The chances of remaining globally competitive have never been better. The prerequisite for this is to adapt to the new technologies and the associated change. Those who do not embrace them will not prevail in the future commercial world of the art market.
NFTs and smart contracts are the technologies that combines all this. Although there is still a lot of convincing and explaining to do today, NFTs and their underlying token standards will be the currency in which art will be traded in the future.
Much like in the real world, the ownership of digital assets and goods is part of the realm of experience, and it shows how to interact with the world around us and with each other. NFTs are key to the proliferation of these items in an immersive Metaverse ecosystem, which spans digital land, art, wearables, names, etc., and is estimated to be worth $82 billion by 2025.
Today, it is a small, experienced group of investors that exploits, controls and dominates the NFT market. In the traditional art market, there is a clearly defined group of photography collectors who know how to acquire rare pieces in a differentiated way.
The challenge is to merge blockchain technology with traditional commercialisation of fine art photography through prints to develop a new community of art collectors.
With the experience gained in the traditional art market, the NFT photography area will be expanded and transformed into a lasting new line of business in fine art photography, finance, and investment.
