Tradition to wear a turban in Uzbekistan

up:date January 2, 2022 by Jans Bock-Schroeder

The oriental turban (or chalma) is a long piece of rectangular fabric worn around the head. The fabric is fixed in a set order, forming a complete headdress. A turban is more than a sign of religiosity, it is also functional. The turban provides protection from the burning sun and the wind.
